The Fishing Cruise with Captain Socratis is an authentic early-morning sea adventure designed for anglers and nature lovers of all experience levels. Departing in the calm hours of the morning, this hands-on fishing trip offers a true glimpse into Cyprus’ local fishing traditions in a relaxed and personal setting.

With a limited capacity of just 10 guests, the experience remains focused and attentive. As the boat departs from Paralimni Marina, the trip begins with open-sea trolling, giving guests the opportunity to target larger pelagic species before transitioning to individual bottom fishing closer to the coast.

Tuna season runs from mid-June to mid-August, with July being the peak period when tuna are most active offshore — an exciting time for deeper trolling and the chance of larger catches. Outside of tuna season, the focus shifts to trolling and bottom fishing for a variety of local Mediterranean species, including gilt-head seabream, sea bass, pandora, amberjack, and other seasonal fish commonly found in Cyprus waters.

Throughout the cruise, Captain Socratis shares his local expertise, fishing techniques, and knowledge of the area, creating an experience that is both educational and enjoyable. Whether you are trying fishing for the first time or already have experience, the atmosphere remains supportive, engaging, and unhurried.

A fresh sandwich, coffee, and juice are provided during the trip. There is no bar service on board, but guests are welcome to bring a small personal drink, such as a bottle of water.

This is not a sightseeing cruise — it is a true Cyprus fishing trip, focused on the sea, the catch, and the quiet beauty of an early Mediterranean morning. Ideal for families with older children, friends, and anyone looking to experience fishing in Protaras in a genuine and memorable way.

However, due to the early departure time and the nature of the fishing activity, the experience is not recommended for infants.

Where does the cruise depart from and when should I arrive?

The cruise departs from Paralimni Marina (Golden Coast). A transfer service is included, with specific pickup points available in Protaras, so guests do not need to worry about transportation to the departure location. Guests using the transfer service will be informed of their exact pickup point and time in advance and must be ready on time to avoid missing the cruise.

Guests making their own way to Paralimni Marina (Golden Coast) should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to departure.

Since this cruise includes a transfer, you can arrange it during checkout by entering your accommodation name in the designated section. We will then notify you of your pickup location and pickup time. Guests using the transfer service must be at the pickup point strictly on time, as late arrivals may miss the transfer and the cruise.

What should I bring with me?

We recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing suitable for fishing. A light cardigan or windbreaker is also advisable, especially at the beginning and end of the season when mornings can feel cooler at sea.

You may also wish to bring a small personal drink, such as a bottle of water, as there is no bar service on board.

Please keep personal items minimal and manageable, as space on the boat is limited and the focus of the trip is on fishing activity.
